Nega Berecha

Director of Programs

Nega Berecha is an international development specialist with more than 15 years of hands-on, field-based and home office program management experience. As Director of Programs, he oversees agribusiness development initiatives in Africa and South East Asia.

During his career at CNFA, Berecha has managed $75 million in agribusiness portfolio initiatives. This includes serving as CNFA’s Chief of Party for the USAID funded U.S.-Pakistan Partnership for Agricultural Market Development in Pakistan and Deputy Chief of Party for the USAID’s Commercial Farm Services Program in Ethiopia.

Before joining CNFA in 2012, Berecha worked for USAID’s Africa Leadership and Capacity Building Training Program (Africa Lead) as a Monitoring and Evaluation Manager at DAI, a regional program implemented in 12 African Countries to support the Africa Union’s Comprehensive African Agriculture Development Program (CAADP). Before then, as a Dairy Technical Specialist at Land O’Lakes, he led the development of innovations and business growth models and incubated more than 200 private dairy enterprises.

Berecha holds a Master of Arts in International Development from the American University and a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics from Alamaya University of Agriculture in Ethiopia.
